Top 7 Ways to Get Immediate Referrals From Your Network

You have many networks, and referrals make for the best prospects. If you are looking to improve your client count, consider these steps to get more referrals as quickly as possible. In fact, this is the best time of year because you will be seeing more people that you may not interact with as much during the rest of the year.

And, you can generate strong leads right now by implementing some simple and quick strategies:

Tip #1: In order to effectively use referral marketing, you need to get specific about who your target market is. You want to make it easy for your referral sources to think of someone. Give those people clear cues so they know what kind of customer you’re looking for.

For example: their age range, primary needs, where they live (city or zip code), and things that interest them. Get access to our Target Market template to create that buyer persona and the training, Your Ideal Clients, for free on LIFT. (and link to custream.com/lift)

Tip #2Make your offer appealing and easy to say yes to. For example, if you are in real estate, getting an immediate referral for a listing may not be doable. Consider offering a home valuation instead; that will get a future prospect’s attention.

Other “easy yes’s” can be special reports or logoed products that will keep you at the forefront of their minds when they’re ready to take things to the next level.

Tip #3:  Talk to your family about what you do and see if they have any connections that could work as potential business leads. You would be surprised how often our loved ones know people who fit our target market without us even realizing it. By asking them directly, you open up the possibility for easy opportunities.

Tip #4: Your friends are a valuable resource- not only do they know you well, but chances are they also know people in your target market. Don’t be afraid to ask them for help expanding your business; most likely, they’ll be more than happy to offer their assistance! And if they’re anything like me, then once you’ve asked them once or twice (maybe with an easy yes offer), they’ll get the message loud and clear that you’re looking for new leads.

Tip #5: Make use of social media platforms to advertise your product or service. You could post a tip on your regular page, along with the offer, and then share it with your personal contacts. Advanced tip: Use social media to promote your colleagues, and ask your colleagues to do the same for you.

Tip #6: Make it easy and enjoyable for your best customers – your fans! – to refer you by coming up with a straightforward referral contest that rewards those who refer the most people to you. A great prize could be sharing one of your favorite pastimes, like going out to eat at a nice restaurant, catching a game or concert together, or something similar. And include the option of giving away gift cards as well! Remember to keep your competition time frame short – no more than 2 weeks – so there’s a sense of urgency.

Tip #7: Make a list of the vendors whose businesses rely on yours, and ask them for referrals or permission to display your marketing material. These are companies that increased their business due to you, so it’s clearly in their best interest to help you expand as well! Not only will this action increase your clientele, but these vendors may even give you discounts for more future business.
